We had a busy weekend driving back and forth to graduation parties and a dance competition, so I got to spend a lot of time enjoying the Chevy Blazer EV, with enough miles on one charge to get me everywhere I needed to go.

Space and Comfort

I needed plenty of trunk space to transport my daughter’s dance dream duffle and everything else we needed for the weekend, and the Blazer EV did not disappoint. It offered plenty of room to bring whatever gear we needed in the trunk. The interior was also very spacious, providing plenty of legroom and headroom in front and back, keeping whatever group of kids I was driving around comfortable.

Technology and Features

The Chevy Blazer EV is packed with technology that makes life easier and driving more enjoyable. The infotainment system is intuitive and responsive, featuring a large touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, making it easy to connect to my phone and access all my favorite apps, music, and navigation.

It also comes with an array of driver-assistance technologies. From adaptive cruise control to lane-keeping assist, these features provide an extra layer of safety and convenience. I have driven several vehicles with driver-assistance technology, and the Blazer EV was the most intuitive and easiest to use.

I will admit that one time, I was more focused on picking my next music station rather than as focused on the road as I should have been. When the vehicle in front of me braked, the heads-up display flashed a large red image, and my seat vibrated simultaneously, catching my attention back and allowing me to brake in plenty of time.

The EV Blazer also has a technology feature I had never experienced before. It doesn’t have a start button with start / stop technology to help fuel efficiency. You get in the car, hit the brake, and shift into gear, and when I put it in the park and opened the driver’s door, it shut off. Then, the really mind-blowing part was when I got back into the car with the key fob and shut the driver’s door; the car turned back on. It took a minute to break the habit of turning the car on and off, but after a busy weekend getting in and out of the vehicle many times, I quickly loved it. If that is not a feature you enjoy, it is easy to turn off.

EV vehicles have one-pedal drive to help save the battery. One-pedal driving can take a minute for me to get used to, and it is also a feature I enjoy using at certain times more than others. It was extremely simple to hit the button and turn it off or back on when needed.

Performance and Range

I enjoyed driving the Chevy Blazer EV. The electric motor provides instant torque, making acceleration smooth and effortless. It’s surprisingly fun to drive, with a responsive feel that makes maneuvering in city traffic and on the highway easy.

Range anxiety is a common concern with electric vehicles, but the Blazer EV offers a respectable range on a full charge. While it is easy to charge at home, I chose not to charge it all weekend to see how long a full charge would last my busy life, and it lasted as long as I needed it to.

Driving and EV also made me realize that there are a lot of places you can charge your car during your daily life outside of a gas station. Our dance competition was at Community Choice Credit Union, and the parking garage we always parked in had reserved EV spots, which is great not only to have a reserved spot in a full garage but also to allow you to charge while parked there. There were also EV charging stations at Hy-Vee that you can charge while you get groceries.

Conclusion

The Chevy Blazer EV has proven to be a top contender for my family’s next vehicle. The only negative anyone could find with it was the lack of a sunroof, but other trim levels do have one.

It combines style, space, and advanced technology in a practical and enjoyable package to drive. As a mom, I appreciate the convenience and peace of mind it offers, and as a driver, I love the performance and efficiency. If you’re considering switching to an electric vehicle, I highly recommend taking the Blazer EV for a test drive. You might just fall in love with it, as I did.
